Electrician in Englewood, CO

Englewood is the oldest housing stock we regularly work in, and that changes the job completely. Much of the city dates from the 1940s through the 1960s, so instead of capacity problems you get condition problems: original fuse or early breaker panels, 60A and 100A services that are genuinely undersized rather than merely tight, ungrounded two-prong outlets throughout, cloth-insulated conductors, and in the oldest homes surviving knob-and-tube. Most of these houses have also been partially updated at some point, which leaves a patchwork where a modern kitchen circuit runs off a panel that has not been touched since the Eisenhower administration. The honest starting point in Englewood is usually an inspection rather than a quote, because a realistic upgrade price depends on what is actually behind the walls and in the panel, and that is not visible from the outside.

What Englewood homes are like electrically

Englewood is genuinely old housing by Front Range standards, much of it built from the 1940s through the 1960s, with pockets older still. That means the electrical issues here are different from the newer suburbs: original fuse panels or early breaker panels, 60A or 100A services that are badly undersized for modern use, ungrounded two-prong outlets throughout, cloth-insulated wiring, and in the oldest homes, surviving knob-and-tube. Bungalows and small ranches dominate, and many have been partially updated over the decades, which leaves a mix of old and new work in the same house.

Permits and inspections in Englewood

City of Englewood

Englewood runs its own building division. Because the housing stock is older, service and panel replacements are a large share of permitted work here, and those require utility coordination for the disconnect and reconnect as well as a city inspection. Knob-and-tube remediation and rewiring are also permitted work. We file with the City of Englewood, coordinate Xcel, and meet the inspector.

Permit rules and fees change. We confirm current requirements with the jurisdiction before every permitted job. See our permit guides.

We did not have power coming through a circuit in our garage. When I called on a Friday morning, I fully expected we would have to wait until after the weekend for an electrician to come out. But Jud was able to come diagnose the issue within just a few hours! I was very impressed, and so happy that he was also able to fix the problem very quickly. Jud was very professional, explained everything so well, and is very trustworthy.

I chose AllSafe Electric because their project proposal was the most detailed and comprehensive of those I received. Once the project began, I was thoroughly impressed by their expertise, workmanship, and attention to detail. An excellent experience. Most highly recommended.

We had a great experience with Allsafe Electric. At the initial consult, we discussed the work we wanted done, and Jud expertly explained the options for how he could get it done clean and cost effective. He didn't try to push or upsell anything. His estimate was clear and fair, and he was flexible when we asked to reschedule the date of work. Once scheduled he showed up right on time and did clean, quality work. The work included relocating our EV charger hookup, adding a new outlet, installation of both an interior and exterior ceiling fan box, a new ethernet cable plug, and a new outlet for an induction cooktop. Professional, communicative, and easy to work with. We'd absolutely use Allsafe again and recommend Jud to anyone in the Parker area.

Over the past couple years we have been stumbling through the repairs of construction defects. Many of those defects involved electrical. Along with new defects, we still have some old electrical that was not made up to date by the previous subcontractor. Judd and the AllSafe crew have helped navigate and make repairs as we find them. It’s been such a relief to have knowledgeable electricians help keep our family safe and regain some of our creature comforts. We appreciate knowing someone around we can count on for help. Thank you for your patients and empathy for us during all this. We really appreciates good people. Thank you. The Black Family

All Safe is a fantastic electrician company. They are great communicators as to when they will arrive and work in a clean orderly fashion. They installed new lighting fixtures, replaced a broken GFI, replaced switches, repaired an outlet. They did a great job I highly recommend them.

Judd was great. I called for an estimate, they came right out, game a good price, i hired them, they showed up right away, did a great job, took care of my gear and my dogs, and pleasure to work with. Allsafe installed a new 20-amp line for my stereo and installed a whole house surge protector and of course had to fix some issues with my breaker panel because my house was built recently by a homebuilder that took some short cuts.

Questions from Englewood homeowners

My Englewood home still has two-prong outlets. What are my options?

Three, honestly. Running a proper ground is the best answer where it is feasible. A GFCI-protected replacement labeled "no equipment ground" is a code-compliant middle path. Replacing the outlet with a grounded one and no actual ground is the one thing you should not do, and it is unfortunately common. We will tell you which applies circuit by circuit.

Do I need to remove knob-and-tube wiring?

Not always all of it, but any that is still energized, buried in insulation, or spliced into modern work needs addressing, and insurers increasingly ask about it. We map what is actually still live rather than quoting a whole-house rewire by default, because in many homes a good portion was abandoned in place years ago.

Is a 100A service enough for an older Englewood home?

Sometimes, depending on what the house runs. Where it is not enough is when you add central air, an EV charger, or a modern kitchen. A load calculation gives you a real answer rather than a rule of thumb, and it is worth doing before committing to a remodel.

Do you cover Englewood for emergencies?

Yes, though we are straight about the drive: same-day urgent coverage depends on where the day already has us. Scheduled work is easy to arrange. We are open weekdays 8am to 6pm.
