Indoor lighting installation

This page is indoor lighting: recessed cans, under-cabinet strips, fixture and chandelier swaps, closet and pantry lights, and dimmers matched to the bulbs. For landscape, path, security and holiday lighting, see our outdoor lighting page. Most indoor lighting projects are a half to a full day, with minimal drywall work and every fixture on a dimmer if you want it.

Do any of these sound familiar?

Signs you need this

01

A room lit by one ceiling fixture and some lamps

Recessed lighting on a dimmer makes it usable, and it is a clean retrofit in most Douglas County homes.

02

Dark kitchen counters

Under-cabinet LED is a small job with a big daily payoff, and hard-wired looks far better than stick-on strips.

03

A chandelier or heavy fixture to hang

Anything over 35 pounds, or on a high or sloped ceiling, needs a rated box and often a lift. We come equipped for both.

04

Yellowing, buzzing, or dated fixtures

Swapping a floor of fixtures to a consistent style is one of the highest-impact updates in a house.

What it costs

$150to$2,800

What moves the price
a single fixture swap versus a room of new recessed cans, ceiling height and access, and whether a circuit or switch is added.
What is included
fixtures where we supply them, dimmers, patch coordination, and testing.

Estimated range, reviewed regularly. Your exact price is fixed in writing before any work begins.

What the price covers

  • A layout walked through with you before anything is drilled
  • Color temperature and dimming chosen to suit the room
  • Cans placed around joists, HVAC, and existing framing
  • Compatible dimmers so nothing hums or flickers
  • Tidy cuts, with any patch pointed out before we make it
  • Every fixture aimed, tested, and the site cleaned up

How the job goes

  2. 2

We confirm the circuits and switch locations, and where cans can go around joists and HVAC.

  3. 3

We install, keeping cuts tidy, and set every fixture on a compatible dimmer.

  4. 4

We aim, test, and clean up.

Permits and inspection

Fixture replacement is maintenance. New recessed lighting, new circuits, or added switches are permitted work in the Town of Parker and Douglas County, and we handle it where it applies.

All Safe is a fantastic electrician company. They are great communicators as to when they will arrive and work in a clean orderly fashion. They installed new lighting fixtures, replaced a broken GFI, replaced switches, repaired an outlet. They did a great job I highly recommend them.

We originally called Allsafe to look at adding some new lighting to our dining room and fixing some lighting issues in our bathrooms. Judd from Allsafe informed us there were concerns about our electrical service panel but could do the repairs we asked. We put the project on hold due to some urgent medical issues. About 2 months later we had an outlet in the kitchen arc and burn out. Our electrical service panel breakers didn’t trip appropriately. We called Judd back out to assess the situation. He was very thorough in evaluating what was going on with our electrical system. He found multiple issues with our ancient service panel and improper grounding throughout the house. Judd and his team replaced our electrical service panel, multiple outlets, installed new bathroom light fixtures, and installed new recessed lighting in our dining area. They found and fixed a few other minor issues along the way at no additional cost. Working with Allsafe was awesome! All the work they did looks great and we’re very happy we chose them to upgrade our electrical system.

recently had AllSafe Electric come out to do some work at my place, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. They replaced several outlets and updated lighting in both my closet and basement, and everything turned out great. The work was done professionally and efficiently, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. Everything looks clean, works perfectly, and was completed in a timely manner. They were also easy to communicate with and showed up when they said they would, which goes a long way. I’d definitely recommend AllSafe Electric to anyone needing electrical work done. Solid, reliable service all around.

Judson Cushing and the AllSafe Electric team continue to impress. Judson recently installed an outlet above my pool table along with a wall switch for a new pool table light. The placement was thoughtful, the install was clean, and the finished product looks like it was always meant to be there. Functionally perfect and aesthetically spot-on. This is at least the third project AllSafe Electirc has completed for me (which includes installing an auxiliary panel, running new circuits, and troubleshooting problems). As always, Judson and Shawn were very responsive, on time, did a fantastic job in short order. They clearly take pride in their work. It is hard to find contractors who combine technical skill with real customer focus, but AllSafe Electric does. I couldn’t be happier. Judson and Allsafe Electric have absolutely and repeatedly earned my business and recognition.

We did not have power coming through a circuit in our garage. When I called on a Friday morning, I fully expected we would have to wait until after the weekend for an electrician to come out. But Jud was able to come diagnose the issue within just a few hours! I was very impressed, and so happy that he was also able to fix the problem very quickly. Jud was very professional, explained everything so well, and is very trustworthy.

I chose AllSafe Electric because their project proposal was the most detailed and comprehensive of those I received. Once the project began, I was thoroughly impressed by their expertise, workmanship, and attention to detail. An excellent experience. Most highly recommended.

We had a great experience with Allsafe Electric. At the initial consult, we discussed the work we wanted done, and Jud expertly explained the options for how he could get it done clean and cost effective. He didn't try to push or upsell anything. His estimate was clear and fair, and he was flexible when we asked to reschedule the date of work. Once scheduled he showed up right on time and did clean, quality work. The work included relocating our EV charger hookup, adding a new outlet, installation of both an interior and exterior ceiling fan box, a new ethernet cable plug, and a new outlet for an induction cooktop. Professional, communicative, and easy to work with. We'd absolutely use Allsafe again and recommend Jud to anyone in the Parker area.

Over the past couple years we have been stumbling through the repairs of construction defects. Many of those defects involved electrical. Along with new defects, we still have some old electrical that was not made up to date by the previous subcontractor. Judd and the AllSafe crew have helped navigate and make repairs as we find them. It’s been such a relief to have knowledgeable electricians help keep our family safe and regain some of our creature comforts. We appreciate knowing someone around we can count on for help. Thank you for your patients and empathy for us during all this. We really appreciates good people. Thank you. The Black Family

Common questions

How many recessed lights does a room need?

As a rule of thumb, one every 4 to 6 feet in a grid, adjusted for the furniture and the ceiling height. We lay it out with you before drilling anything.

Can you add recessed lighting without wrecking the ceiling?

In most cases, yes. From an attic above it is straightforward, and on a lower floor we fish the wiring with small, patchable access points and tell you first.

Why do my LED lights flicker on the dimmer?

The dimmer is not rated for the LED load. We swap it for a compatible one, and it is almost never the bulbs at fault.

Do you hang customer-supplied chandeliers?

Yes. If you bought the fixture we will install it, check that the box is rated for the weight, and add a support if it is not.

Where we do indoor lighting

We handle indoor lighting across Parker and the surrounding south metro. That includes Parker, Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Centennial and The Pinery, plus every other town on our service area page. Each town page lists its own permit authority and electric utility, which genuinely differ across Douglas, Arapahoe and Elbert counties.
