Allsafe Electric
Repairs & safetyServing the South Denver metro since 2018

Smoke and CO detector installation

Hardwired detectors have a lifespan of about ten years, and then they start chirping, false-alarming, or missing real events. We replace them as an interconnected set so that when one senses smoke, every alarm in the house sounds. Colorado requires a CO alarm within 15 feet of every sleeping area, and we sort that out at the same visit.

Do any of these sound familiar?

Signs you need this

01

Alarms chirping or false-alarming for no reason

Sensors drift as they age. Past about ten years the whole set is due rather than the one that is complaining.

02

A date stamp on the back older than ten years

Every detector has a manufacture date printed on it. If you cannot find one, it is old enough to replace.

03

No CO alarm near the bedrooms

Colorado law requires one within 15 feet of every sleeping area in homes with fuel appliances or an attached garage.

04

Alarms that do not sound together

If setting one off does not trigger the others, the interconnection is broken or was never there.

What it costs

$149to$299

per device installed

What moves the price
combination smoke and CO versus smoke only, sealed ten-year versus replaceable battery, and ceiling height.
What is included
the device, interconnection to the existing set, and a full-system test.

Estimated range, reviewed regularly. Your exact price is fixed in writing before any work begins.

What the price covers

  • A count and date check on every existing detector
  • Devices matched across the house so they interconnect reliably
  • CO coverage placed correctly for Colorado requirements
  • Sealed ten-year units offered so you stop changing batteries
  • A full-system test with every alarm confirmed sounding together
  • Old units disposed of properly

Start to finish

How the job goes

  1. 1

We count the existing detectors and check the date codes and interconnection.

  2. 2

You choose combination or smoke only, and sealed ten-year or replaceable battery units.

  3. 3

We replace the set, keep them interconnected, and add CO coverage where code requires it.

  4. 4

We test every alarm and confirm they all sound together.

Permits and inspection

Like-for-like detector replacement is maintenance. Adding detectors on new wiring, or interconnection where none existed, may be permitted depending on scope, so confirm with the Town of Parker or Douglas County.

Eva Becker
Master electrician. We had a job list and he and his partner too care of fan installation, 2 dedicated electrical outlets, moving one plug in lower position. New smoke detectors because they were outdated. He went to home depot to purchase the smoke detectors I can't explain how comfortable i felt with all of this work If we were doing stars. He would get 20 not 10

We did not have power coming through a circuit in our garage. When I called on a Friday morning, I fully expected we would have to wait until after the weekend for an electrician to come out. But Jud was able to come diagnose the issue within just a few hours! I was very impressed, and so happy that he was also able to fix the problem very quickly. Jud was very professional, explained everything so well, and is very trustworthy.

I chose AllSafe Electric because their project proposal was the most detailed and comprehensive of those I received. Once the project began, I was thoroughly impressed by their expertise, workmanship, and attention to detail. An excellent experience. Most highly recommended.

We had a great experience with Allsafe Electric. At the initial consult, we discussed the work we wanted done, and Jud expertly explained the options for how he could get it done clean and cost effective. He didn't try to push or upsell anything. His estimate was clear and fair, and he was flexible when we asked to reschedule the date of work. Once scheduled he showed up right on time and did clean, quality work. The work included relocating our EV charger hookup, adding a new outlet, installation of both an interior and exterior ceiling fan box, a new ethernet cable plug, and a new outlet for an induction cooktop. Professional, communicative, and easy to work with. We'd absolutely use Allsafe again and recommend Jud to anyone in the Parker area.

Over the past couple years we have been stumbling through the repairs of construction defects. Many of those defects involved electrical. Along with new defects, we still have some old electrical that was not made up to date by the previous subcontractor. Judd and the AllSafe crew have helped navigate and make repairs as we find them. It’s been such a relief to have knowledgeable electricians help keep our family safe and regain some of our creature comforts. We appreciate knowing someone around we can count on for help. Thank you for your patients and empathy for us during all this. We really appreciates good people. Thank you. The Black Family

All Safe is a fantastic electrician company. They are great communicators as to when they will arrive and work in a clean orderly fashion. They installed new lighting fixtures, replaced a broken GFI, replaced switches, repaired an outlet. They did a great job I highly recommend them.

Common questions

How often do hardwired smoke detectors need replacing?

About every ten years. The battery is a backup, and the sensor itself wears out on that timeline regardless of how often you change batteries.

Can I mix battery and hardwired detectors?

They should behave as one interconnected system. We can add battery-interconnect units where running a wire is impractical, so a fire in the basement still wakes the bedrooms.

Where does code require CO alarms in Colorado?

Within 15 feet of each room used for sleeping, in homes with fuel-burning appliances or an attached garage. We place them correctly as part of the job.

My alarm chirps even with a new battery. Why?

That is end of life. Modern units chirp a distinct pattern when the sensor expires, and replacing the battery will not stop it.

Where we do smoke & co detectors

We handle smoke & co detectors across Parker and the surrounding south metro. That includes Parker, Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Centennial and The Pinery, plus every other town on our service area page. Each town page lists its own permit authority and electric utility, which genuinely differ across Douglas, Arapahoe and Elbert counties.
